Police: Man fired gun in parking garage at Rivers Casino
No one was hurt when a Chicago man fired a handgun in the parking garage at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, police said Monday.
Michael Palo, 35, of the 5200 block of South Harper Avenue, was arrested Saturday and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm.
Palo fired the shot about 3 a.m. Friday on the top floor of the garage after spending time in the casino’s poker room, police said in a news release.
Security staffers heard the shot, investigated and then reviewed surveillance video. The video showed Palo exit the casino, drive a white Toyota Corolla to a different spot on the garage’s fourth floor, fire a handgun into the air and then drive away, police said.
He was identified in the poker room and via a search of the Corolla’s registration that was possible because its license plate was captured on surveillance video, police said.
Palo was arrested the next day after he returned to the casino. During a search, police discovered Palo had a black 9mm handgun in his waistband, according to the release.
Palo was released after he was processed at the police station. He is scheduled to appear in the Skokie branch of Cook County court Tuesday afternoon.
