President misleading country on immigrants
You might believe that violent crime from immigrants is rampant across our country if you swallow the messages we are being pummeled with. The truth easily found by Googling that topic is that crime is down 49% over the last 29 years. More recently crime in areas of high immigrant populations is no higher than those with low immigrant populations.
There have been violent crimes involving immigrants, but studies prove they are very rare. We hear the messages on crime over and over to convince us it is an everyday occurrence.
To improve his image, the president wants to convince us that our lives are in jeopardy and he can protect us with his war on immigrants. The cost to remove 11 million immigrants will be astounding — over $967 billion and will take 10 years. Each person removed costs $17 thousand. This is no way to reduce the federal deficit. Per the Daily Herald, the House budget adds $147 billion in spending for walls and enforcement. The border was porous but is secure at present.
When I observe people in my community that are likely immigrants, I see them working- building homes, roofing, painting and farming. These are jobs we need done. We have all seen the tired families reaching our borders because they will do anything for a better life. We were all immigrants once. Let’s spend our tax dollars wisely on services we need like Medicaid.
Let your Congress member know your feelings and tell them you are well read on this topic and know the issue is being blown out of proportion.
