Harvard and our future

The recent news that Homeland Security has denied Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students is just one more example of how determined Trump and his circle are to undermine higher education and force college and universities to give up their independence.

And to what end? International students are an invaluable source of knowledge, research, goodwill and so much more. As a country, we should be proud to welcome these students into our educational systems.

The destruction that has been wrought on American ideals of education, science, international aid, health care, the arts, and the list goes on, since the new administration took office is nothing short of indefensible. This tyranny must be stopped.

I can only hope that there is something left of our democracy when we vote Republicans out of office in 2026 and again in 2028.
