Des Plaines police find drugs during traffic stop

A Des Plaines man was arrested early Friday after police there stopped his vehicle and found illegal drugs inside, according to a news release.

Sean M. Pender, 37, of the 600 block of Pearson Street, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis in the passenger area of a motor vehicle.

Police stopped Pender’s vehicle at about 3:45 a.m. on the 2100 block of Dempster Street.

Several THC vape pens not in their original packaging were found on the car, and Pender dropped one when he emptied his pockets, police said. Additionally, a plastic bag containing what police believe was cocaine and psilocybin tablets was found, according to the release.

Pender was released after being processed at the police station.
