Criticism at least should go both ways
Two recent letters in the Daily Herald really caught my eye. Mr. Francke and Mr. Atkins have their knickers in a twist over something relating to the Democrats. First, I’d like to mention Mr. Francke’s marvelous research when it comes to Trump’s winning numbers in the last election. Did he do the same when Biden won in 2020 while Trump’s troops were storming the Capitol over a lie?
Then, there is the letter from Mr. Atkins, who thinks Democrats should be arrested over Mr. Biden’s handling of documents. What occurred pales in comparison to what Trump did with his documents, but even if that logic applies, why wasn’t Mr. Reagan arrested because of his mental incapacities during the Iran-Contra affair?
No matter how you want to color outside the lines, even with an “incapacitated” president, when Biden left office, we were in pretty good shape. Our markets were at an all-time high, inflation was getting under control, people were making more money, and there were “hiring” signs all over and whoever was in charge finally had the border under control. Now we have a president who thinks it’s just fine to accept a $400 million plane from a Middle Eastern despot; who’s cutting all kinds of deals in these countries that benefit him and his family; who has entered a suspect crypto deal that’s making him ultra, ultra rich and who is spending how many tax dollars golfing every week at his own golf courses so the money spent is going into his pockets, and you have no quarrel with that?
What if it was Biden or Harris, would you still feel the same? Or will you at least admit that what Trump is doing is shameful and should be illegal?
