Elgin hosts free concerts under the stars this summer
Get ready to dance and sing along this summer! Elgin brings back its free Thursday night concert series June 5-Aug. 14, opening with the Aurora American Legion Band.
The concerts are 7 to 8:30 p.m., alternating between the Wing Park band shell, 1010 Wing St., and the Lords Park pavilion, 100 Oakwood Blvd. A food truck will be available before and during each concert. Patrons are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs for a music-filled night.
These concerts take place outdoors so stay up-to-date on weather delays and cancellations via elginil.gov or the City of Elgin Facebook page.
The series kicks off on June 5 at the Wing Park Bandshell with the Aurora American Legion Band. Since 1973, this all-volunteer ensemble has been bringing communities together through spirited performances of patriotic classics, marches, and timeless Americana. With rich history of honoring veterans and inspiring audiences across the Fox Valley, their concerts are a perfect for a summer evening.
It continues on June 12 at the Lords Park Pavilion with the Silent Disco in the Park, featuring a live set by a DJ. Grab a pair of wireless headphones and dance to the beat of your choice. With multiple music channels and a DJ spinning your favorite hits, it is an immersive and unforgettable experience for all ages.
At Wing Park on June 19, enjoy a night of soul and blues with Joe Pratt and the Source One Band, featuring a lineup of talented vocalists. This cover band brings soulful charm to the stage that is sure to get you dancing.
On June 26, it will be an evening of music featuring the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet at the Lords Park pavilion. Enjoy a performance filled with bold, brilliant brass sounds. This talented ensemble brings world-class musicianship to the outdoors, perfect for music lovers of all ages.
On July 10, Banda La Super Ranchera brings the heart and soul of traditional Mexican banda music to Wing Park.
Grammy-nominated children's entertainer Nanny Nikki will be coming to the Lords Park Pavilion on July 17. Nikki brings classic children's songs and original tunes to life with sing-alongs, dancing, puppets, and more. Whether performing solo or her band, The Dapper Dudes, her interactive show is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
On July 24, it will be a summer night of music, dancing and entertainment as Libido Funk Circus takes the Wing Park stage. Celebrating over 20 years, their show blends hits from the 1960s to today’s chart toppers.
On July 31, join in a special Open Mic Night, presented in partnership with Side Street Studio Arts, at the Lords Park Pavilion. Whether you are a musician, poet, comedian, or just love to cheer from the audience, this is your chance to shine or support local talent in an outdoor setting. On Aug. 7, step back in time for a night of retro rock 'n' roll with Rosie & The Rivets at Wing Park. This electrifying band delivers a fresh and fun tribute to the first decade of rock (1954-1964), featuring hits from early rock & roll, girl groups, rockabilly, R&B, and the British Invasion.
The series will close out on Aug. 14 at the Lords Park pavilion with the Boombox All 80s Band, delivering a mix of pop and rock hits from the 1980s, covering everything from Prince to Poison, Madonna to Joan Jett, and more.
