Why not choose alternatives?
Not sure what is worse in the great state of Illinois … is it the professional sports or politics? Let’s start with sports. So far the Cubs look good but have not won a playoff game since 2017. The Bulls, Blackhawks just finished another dismal seasons. Last year the Sox broke the record for most losses and they will probably finish at the bottom of their division this year. The Bears were hugely disappointing in 2024 but of course optimism reigns high for the upcoming season. The Sky got clobbered in their season opener and the Fire is in ninth place out of 15 teams? Yet the fans keep doling out their hard-earned money to watch mediocrity.
The state of affairs in Illinois politics is not much better. You have a governor who wants to be the next president. JB lambastes the current president while his back yard is in dire need of repair. Illinois, primarily the greater Chicago area, is a stronghold for the Democrats, dark blue state for sure. But what are the Illinois politicians proud of, with diminishing population, high crime, fiscal calamity, choking pensions, political corruption, being a sanctuary state?
You have a Chicago mayor who has delusional policies on taxes, migrants, education, jobs that have equated to an 80% disapproval rating. Yet voters keep electing Democrats. Must be something in the water. Those living in the greater Chicago area need to wake up. Life could be so much better. Just drive south to Indiana or Tennessee to see the difference.
