Free senior health seminar in Mundelein: Discover the Link Between Oral and Overall Health

Markiewicz Dental has announced a free community seminar for seniors, hosted by Dr. David Markiewicz and Dr. Ryan Bogard, at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at the Mundelein Regent Center for Seniors, 1200 Regent Drive, Mundelein. The presentation will focus on how oral health plays a critical role in systemic health, with time allotted for a live Q&A session.

This event is designed to help older adults understand how conditions like gum disease, tooth loss and dry mouth can be linked to broader health issues including heart disease, diabetes, cognitive decline and more.

“Many people are surprised to learn how closely the health of your mouth reflects the health of your body,” said Dr. David Markiewicz, a general dentist and second-generation provider at Markiewicz Dental. “We want to empower our senior community with simple steps they can take to improve both.”

Dr. Markiewicz, a lifelong Mundelein resident and graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, has a special interest in preventive care and interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Joining him is Dr. Ryan Bogard, a board certified periodontist. Dr. Bogard is a specialist in gum health, dental implants, and oral surgery, and has received advanced surgical training in both traditional and modern periodontal techniques.

“The link between periodontal disease and systemic illness is real and well-documented,” Dr. Bogard said. “We’re excited to answer questions and share the latest research in a setting that’s relaxed and approachable.”

All attendees will be entered into a drawing for a free Oral-B iO electric toothbrush, one of the most advanced oral hygiene tools on the market.

This event is free and open to all area seniors and their guests. Light refreshments will be provided.

RSVP is not required, but early arrival is encouraged.
