Palatine hydrant painting underway

Hydrant painting is beginning in Palatine, with work this year focused on an area roughly from Dundee and Rand roads south to Northwest Highway and Lincoln Street between Smith Street and Rohlwing Road.

Contracted crews will be removing layers of paint down to bare metal, priming, and painting selected fire hydrants.

Residents shouldn’t be concerned if they see a white fire hydrant. They will temporarily be white after the primer is applied. After they have been prepared and primed, the contractor will paint them the traditional red color.
