Lombard police join in Safe 64 Enforcement Effort on June 4
The Lombard Police Department will join law enforcement agencies from across DuPage and Kane Counties on Wednesday, June 4, for a high-visibility traffic safety campaign along Route 64.
The Safe 64 Initiative will focus on increasing patrols to promote seatbelt use and curb other dangerous driving behaviors.
The enforcement effort will take place throughout the day on Route 64 and is part of a broader regional strategy to reduce crashes and save lives. Officers will focus on violations related to speeding, distracted driving, impairment and failure to wear seatbelts.
The Safe 64 Initiative is being launched in response to alarming local crash data. Since 2019, more than 220 lives have been lost in fatal traffic crashes in DuPage County. Last year, deadly crashes occurred nearly every month. It serves as a reminder that we must do more to make our roads safer for everyone.
In addition to enforcement, the campaign will feature community-wide messaging that encourages all motorists to adopt safer driving habits:
• Buckle up
• Stay focused
• Slow down
• Drive sober and responsibly
The Lombard Police Department urges residents to support the Safe 64 Initiative by making smart choices every time they get behind the wheel.
