Naperville hosts Soap Box Derby, top racers qualify for world championship

Boys and girls between 7 and 20 years old competed Saturday in the gravity-powered soap box derby car races in Naperville.

After inspection, weigh in, practice runs, driver and group photos, the racers were set to speed down Frontenac Road.

Racers competed in three core divisions — Stock, Superstock and Masters — and the winners qualified to compete in Akron, Ohio at the World Championship race on July 14.
