Hanover Township Mental Health Board approves funding

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board approved $69,500 in funding at its May 27 meeting.

The board awarded $20,000 in Capital Funding to Ecker Center to assist in office renovations that will allow for more programs and therapy space. Located in Elgin, the Ecker Center for Behavioral Health serves 1,000 township residents annually.

Special Olympics of Illinois received $10,000 in Challenge Funding to support programming for township athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

The board awarded $5,000 in emergency funding to PADS of Elgin for operational expenses. Since 2020, more than $134,000 in emergency funding has been awarded to local agencies as a result of crisis situations.

Hanover Township received $34,500 in Mental Health Housing Funding to fund the supportive housing services coordinator position at Hanover Landing. Opened in September 2023, the Elgin facility comprises 39 one-bedroom units for residents with disabilities to live independently.
