Police: Cannabis, gun found during Des Plaines traffic stop
A Chicago man was arrested over the weekend after Des Plaines police stopped a vehicle in which he was riding and found cannabis and a handgun inside, authorities said Tuesday.
Leon Brown, 31, of the 2000 block of North Kedzie Avenue, is charged with felony possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Officers stopped a Chevrolet sedan in which Brown was a passenger about 8 p.m. Saturday on the 2000 block of Miner Street because its windows appeared to be illegally tinted, according to a news release.
Officers saw a plastic bag containing cannabis in the car. They later searched Brown and found more cannabis, police said.
Additionally, a loaded 9 mm handgun was inside a backpack and more bags of cannabis were in the car, according to police. Brown said the drugs and gun were his, police reported.
The driver wasn’t charged.
