EV owners should pay their share for roads
Re: Frank Manzo IV’s “Illinois motor fuel tax is working as intended.”
Mr. Manzo IV did not mention Illinois buyers of all electric automobiles as contributors to the Illinois motor fuel tax.
He failed to mention these buyers as owners of autos that have increased in number causing their share of damage to road surfaces but not paying their share of gasoline taxes imposed via legislation on gasoline-operated autos.
As a user of a gasoline-powered vehicle, I suggest that the owners of all electric vehicles be subject to same rules that apply to all vehicles that use the same rights of way.
