‘Edgy’ Tim: Naperville North’s Hill to Indiana, Batavia’s Myers to Princeton

Naperville North High School junior defensive tackle Gabriel Hill (6-foot-2, 295 pounds), a three-star recruit as rated by Rivals.com, recently gave the Indians Hoosiers his verbal commitment.

Hill chose Indiana over scholarship offers from the likes of Notre Dame, LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Hill made an official visit to Indiana in late April.

Batavia junior offensive tackle Ryan Myers (6-5, 275 pounds) has committed to the Princeton Tigers.

“I grew up in a house with high academic standards and Princeton was always a big offer and option for me,” Myers said. “Between the great academics and the bond and the brotherhood at Princeton, I've been just very impressed with everything about them, so I committed.

“College football is in such chaos these days between the transfer portal and other factors, and in many ways the Ivy League schools might be the last pure college experience,” he said. “People want to go to schools like Princeton and they also want to stay at Princeton for all four years.”

Myers is the second pledge from Illinois for Princeton, joining Palatine wide receiver Kole Fager in the Tigers’ football recruiting class of 2026.

Geneva sophomore quarterback Ben Peterson (6-4, 200 pounds) has added a handful of scholarship offers this spring while his overall recruiting stock continues to rise.

“I have scholarship offers now from both Toledo and also Miami of Ohio,” Peterson said. “We have also been seeing more and more college coaches in school this month, and it's been fun.”

Peterson, who last season played at the sophomore level for Geneva, filled us in on his latest recruiting suitors.

“Besides Toledo and Miami of Ohio, I've also been in contact with the coaches from Iowa State, Iowa, Yale along with Wisconsin, who made a recent in-school visit,” he said. “The feedback from those coaches has been pretty positive so far. The coaches all say they liked what they saw from me last season on tape even though it was just sophomore level competition.”

Look for Peterson to attend several college camps this summer.

“I'm all set to camp this summer at both Toledo and Miami of Ohio,” he said. “I'm also all set to camp at North Central College on the first day of the camp (June 2). I'm also considering camping this summer at both Western Michigan and also Iowa State. I'm trying to sort out my schedule for this summer right now.”
