Northwest Concert Band hosts Summer Concert Series
The Northwest Concert Band invites the community to its 2025 free Summer Concert series at the Community Church of Rolling Meadows, 2720 Kirchoff Road. The first three concerts are at 7:30 p.m.
The first summer concert, “Disney and Musical Favorites,” on Monday, June 16, features favorites from musicals and Disney movies. Sit back and experience highlights from “Frozen,” “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and “Rent,” as well as a Disney medley in “Disney At The Movies.” You will also hear “Emperata Overture” by Claude T. Smith, a rousing piece using Smith’s trademark 7/8 measures.
The second summer concert, “Patriots and Heroes,” on Monday, June 30, honors our country with patriotic pieces such as the “Armed Forces Salute,” “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “Amber Waves of Grain.” In addition, two popular works by Alfred Reed will be performed, “A “Festival Prelude” and “Jubilant Overture.”
The third summer concert features a variety of concert band music. “An Old-Fashioned Band Concert” will be on Monday, July 21. Enjoy “Instant Concert,” a medley of 30 well-known pieces condensed into three minutes; “Suite of Old American Dances,” inspired by the composer’s memories of popular dances from his youth; music from the movie “Ice Castles”; and “If,” featuring the French horn section.
The fourth summer concert takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, in conjunction with the Corn Fest hosted by the Community Church of Rolling Meadows. The concert includes music from movies and musicals (“West Side Story,” “Jurassic Park,” “The Cowboys”), as well as the Overture in B Flat by Caesar Giovannini. This concert will keep you on the edge of your seat!
The summer concerts take place outside. Bring chairs to the Monday night concerts in June and July. In case of inclement weather, Monday night concerts will be cancelled. Information on weather cancellations will be posted at northwestconcertband.org/concerts, as well as emailed to the band mail list. Seating is provided under the tent at the Corn Fest concert, and they plan to play rain or shine.
