Second teen charged in Downers Grove attack

A second teen has been charged with robbing a woman in Downers Grove.

The 17-year-old boy, who lives in Aurora, is charged with armed robbery with a firearm. DuPage County Judge Kishtori Tank on Thursday ordered the teen detained pretrial, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Prosecutors say the teen was one of four people who approached the woman at 8:37 p.m. April 22 on the 4900 block of Forest Avenue. He is accused of pulling at her purse while another juvenile displayed a handgun in his waistband and shouted “money, money” at the woman. They took about $110.

The teen’s next court appearance is Tuesday.

The other juvenile was extradited from Colorado on May 16. He is being detained pretrial and had a Thursday court appearance.

The teens’ names have not been released; DuPage County judges typically prohibit the publication of juvenile defendants’ names. Court records for juvenile cases are not available to the public.
