District 41 holds Leadership Day
Lake Villa Community Consolidated School District 41 held its Leadership Day on May 13. The event was a celebration of student leadership, empowerment, and achievement through the internationally recognized Leader in Me program.
Leadership Day provides parents, educators, community leaders, and special guests a firsthand look at the transformation happening in District 41 classrooms. Students demonstrated how their building implements the Leader in Me Program, presented leadership portfolios, and shared personal stories about how the Leader in Me principles — based on Dr. Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People — have helped them grow into confident, capable leaders.
Highlights of the event included speeches and performances from student leaders, interactive displays showcasing leadership and goal-setting projects, and opportunities for guests to learn more about the Seven Habits through activities.
The Leader in Me framework empowers students by teaching leadership, responsibility, and initiative, building a positive school culture, and laying the foundation for lifelong success. Lake Villa District 41 is proud to be recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse District by FranklinCovey Education, an honor awarded for achieving outstanding results in student and school outcomes and for making a significant impact on staff, students, parents and the community. Schools achieving Lighthouse Certification serve as strong examples of how the Leader in Me principles create measurable, lasting improvements.
Through Leader in Me, students, staff, and families unite around a shared goal: preparing students with the college-, career- and life-readiness skills needed to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing world. Students develop essential life skills such as self-awareness, personal responsibility, planning and goal-setting, effective communication, conflict resolution, living a balanced life, and contributing meaningfully to their communities.
