Aurora church continues ‘Birth of the Church’ series
On Sunday, May 25, Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora, continues the worship series “The Birth of the Church: Becoming the Body, Not Just the Building.”
The Rev. Tammy Scott, lead pastor, will preach on “Paul's Story: Living by Faith,” based on Galatians 1:13-17 and 2:11-21. Worship is online at 9:30 a.m. via wesleyumc.online.church and in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. Coffee fellowship follows the sanctuary service.
Pastor Scott explained, “This series invites us to journey back to the very beginnings of our faith — not to a sanctuary or temple but to an empty tomb, a road, a table and a spirit-filled gathering of unlikely disciples.
“The early church was born not in a temple but in homes, roads and moments of radical inclusion. We are being called to trust that God can build something new through us, beyond the walls we've known.
“For nearly 100 years, 14 N. May St. has been the home of Wesley UMC, a place of beauty, comfort, tradition and community gatherings. Now the spirit is inviting us to imagine what it might look like to be the church beyond these walls. This series is not about answers, but about listening.”
