Maryville Crisis Nursery to host Family Health & Safety Fair June 14

Maryville Crisis Nursery will host its first Family Health and Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Maryville Youth Center, located at 5022 W. Madison St., Chicago.

This free, family-friendly event will provide a fun and interactive opportunity for families to learn about health, wellness and safety, and enjoy child-friendly activities.

The fair will connect families with local health care providers like Lurie Children’s Hospital, early intervention services, community organizations and other vital resources focused on supporting child and family well-being. Demonstrations on nutrition and preventive care, and safety education for all ages will be provided.

“Our goal with this annual Family Health and Safety Resource Fair is to provide accessible and engaging educational opportunities for families to learn practical information about health, safety and wellness while having fun together,” said Tricia Fitzgerald, Maryville Crisis Nursery program director.

“Resource fairs like this are vitally important because they help families know where to turn for trusted information and local support systems that keep children and families safe and healthy,” Fitzgerald said.

The Maryville Crisis Nursery staff are proud to collaborate with local health care and human service organizations, all united in the mission of promoting family wellness and building community connections.

The Maryville Crisis Nursery, at 6650 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, is a unique and essential program offering free, short-term care for children from birth to age 6 when parents are experiencing crises.

Children can stay for up to 72 hours in a safe, nurturing environment, protected from the risks of abuse, neglect or trauma. Families often turn to the Crisis Nursery during times of extreme stress, including unemployment, illness, hospitalization, homelessness or other emergency situations.

Parents in need can call the 24-Hour Crisis Helpline, at (773) 205-3637.
