‘Hamilton’ returns to Chicago in 2026

“Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning blockbuster bio-musical about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, the orphaned immigrant who penned most of “The Federalist Papers” and served as the nation’s first treasury secretary, returns to Chicago next year, Broadway in Chicago announced Monday.

The multiweek engagement begins March 4, 2026, and runs through April 26, 2026, at the CIBC Theatre, 18 W. Monroe St., Chicago.

Based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography, “Hamilton” features a score that pairs hip-hop and R&B with pop and Broadway-style ballads. Miranda wrote the book, lyrics and composed the score. Tony winners Thomas Kail and Andy Blankenbuehler direct and choreograph respectively.

This production marks the third time the show has played Chicago. “Hamilton” concluded its initial, record-breaking Chicago run in 2020 after more than three years. The show returned in 2023 for a limited run.
