Covering ‘mistake’ of presidential election
Another letter from an aggrieved reader complaining about the Daily Herald’s perceived anti-Trump bias — “Many see coverage bias” (May 7). Ms. Fortman got her shorts in a bunch because the Daily Herald wouldn’t blast a “Trump Wins” headline after the election.
Here’s my take: It was acknowledgment that the American electorate had just made the biggest mistake in the history of the Republic. Let’s be clear: Trump has no mandate. More than 50% of the electorate rejected him. He calls the press “the enemy of the people.” He refers to military veterans as “suckers and losers.”
The vindictive despot has taken a wrecking ball to the government, the economy and our international allies. It will take years, perhaps a generation, to undo the damage Trump and his brief co-president Musk inflicted in just 100 days.
As for Gov. Pritzker, I cheered when he told New Hampshire Democrats that “ … the Republicans should not know a minute of peace.” He called them out for abdicating their constitutional responsibility to check a rogue president and his stupid executive orders. Pritzker speaks for me and, I believe, for the majority of Illinoisans.
