No injuries in St. Charles apartment fire

St. Charles Fire Department officials said they were called to an apartment fire in the 1300 block of Brook St. at 5:55 p.m., according to a news release.

One crew was able to extinguish the fire on the exterior deck of the third-floor. The fire was knocked down within minutes of arrival, the release said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The apartment building is habitable but the decks are no longer usable. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
