Buffalo Theatre Ensemble announces 2025-2026 season
Buffalo Theatre Ensemble commences its 2025-2026 season with “Georgiana and Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley,” the final play in Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon’s Jane Austen-inspired trilogy whose first two plays BTE staged during its 2023-2025 seasons.
BTE ensemble member and managing artistic director emerita Connie Canaday Howard directs “Georgiana and Kitty” (Nov. 20-Dec. 21), which centers on the friendship between second youngest Bennet sister Kitty and Georgiana, younger sister to Fitzwilliam Darcy.
That’s followed by “Unnecessary Farce” (Jan. 29-March 1, 2026), Paul Slade Smith’s slamming-doors comedy about a pair of inept police officers setting up a sting to trap an embezzling mayor. Ensemble member Kurt Naebig directs.
The season concludes with Noah Haidle’s “Birthday Candles” (May 7-June 7, 2026), the Chicago-area premiere of which took place two years ago at Northlight Theatre in Skokie. Steve Scott directs and Howard stars in the play, which unfolds on a series of birthdays that chronicle the sweet and bitter moments in the life of an ordinary woman.
Performances take place at the McAninch Arts Center, College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Season subscriptions are available at atthemac.org. Theatergoers subscribing before June 4 save 25% off a single show ticket. Subscribers after that date receive 20% off a single show ticket.
