Our Saviour’s in Naperville to host ‘Disagreeing Better’ workshop

For those who have ever wished they had spoken up at a family gathering, at work or in a meeting of local officials, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville will host a workshop on Saturday, May 17, aimed at offering tools for having productive conversations with those who hold different viewpoints.

Presented by Braver Angels, a nonpartisan organization, the workshop seeks to help participants feel better equipped to speak up and to foster civil discussion on charged topics.

All in the community are invited to attend this free event. The workshop will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. in fellowship hall at the Our Saviour’s Campus at 815 S. Washington St. in Naperville.

Attendees will “learn about the values and concerns of those who differ from them politically,” says workshop organizer Jim Bono, an Our Saviour’s member and co-chair of the church’s Refugee Mission. “This event will teach essential skills for communicating across differences and finding common ground.”

Advance registration is encouraged at oursaviours.com/home/news-events or by calling (630) 355-2522, but walk-ins also are welcome.
