Girls track and field: Flournoy, Bisofa combine to win 5 events, lead Lake Zurich to sectional championship

Lake Zurich’s Kendall Flournoy and Arisa Bisofa came up large for the Bears Wednesday at the Class 3A Round Lake girls track and field sectional.

Flournoy won three events while Bisofa won two events to lead Lake Zurich to the sectional title with 142 points. Barrington was second with a 116.5, Zion Benton third with 81 and Warren was fourth with 46 points.

Flournoy won the 100 in 12.22 to edge Lakes’ Makayla Williams, who had a 12.26. Flournoy also won 400 in 57.72 and 200 in 24.67.

Bisofa won the shot put with a throw of 11.70 meters. She then captured the discus with a throw of 42.80.

Her teammate, Polina Krupsky, was second in the 400. Krupsky would win the 800 with a time of 2:15.94.

Mia Sirois from Barrington was a double winner in the long distance races. She won the 3,200 by nearly a minute with a time of 10:08.55. Sirois then won the 1,600 in 4:54.33.

Teammate Yane Jansen Van Rensburg took pole vault honors with 3.65 meters. Barrington also won the 4x800 with a time of 9:22.49.

Grant’s Noelle Patrick won the 100 hurdles in :15.12 while Warren’s Sanali Vaughn won the 330 hurdles in :44.86.

Zion Benton won the 4x100 in 48.73 to edge Stevenson, which finished with a time of 48.77. The Zee Bees also won the 4x200 in 1:42.47. They then won the 4x400 with a 3:59.27 to hold off Barrington (4:00.83).

Warren’s Signe Scott won the long jump with 5.50 meters while teammate Anna Iwuagwu won the triple jump at 11.55 meters. Antioch’s Sydney Walker won the high jump with 1.57 meters to edge Vernon Hills’ Julia Rausa.
