Andy Burke sworn in as Lake Barrington village president

Newly elected leader seeks to enhance economic development efforts and ensure Lake Barrington remains an excellent place to live and work

The village of Lake Barrington recently held a swearing in ceremony for its newly elected Village President Andy Burke. The new village president, alongside the board of trustees, will work to further the village’s economic development efforts as well as continue to build the community’s vision to be an oasis of gracious countryside living.

Burke has long dedicated his efforts to ensure Lake Barrington is a superb place to live, raise a family, and run a business. He has served as a trustee for the village since 2007.

“I’m proud to call Lake Barrington my home and humbled to have the opportunity to serve our community in the role of village president. Over the past several years, the village board has vigorously pursued its long-standing commitment to keep our village a great place to live and do business,” said Lake Barrington Village President Andy Burke. “I look forward to working with the board as well as our residents and local business owners to enhance our growth and prosperity while protecting and maintaining our unique open spaces.”

Burke takes office following Kevin Richardson who served as village president since 2005. Richardson attracted new businesses to the community, oversaw the purchase and development of public lands for residents to enjoy, and worked tirelessly to keep municipal taxes as low as possible, operating on the premise that these funds belong to the taxpayers.

To honor and celebrate Richardson’s retirement, village hall will be open to the public between 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, to enjoy refreshments, share memories, and extend thanks to Mayor Richardson.
