Double the impact: Petals for Pets offers great plants for a great cause
Help cats and dogs in need while planning your garden and landscaping with West Suburban Humane Society’s annual Petals for Pets.
Set for noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9, at West Suburban Human Society, 1901 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, Petals for Pets will feature a wide selection of hanging baskets, flats, herbs, vegetables and perennials. Attendees will also have a chance to meet some of the organization’s adoptable pets.
“Petals for Pets is an event that is community-based and supported,” said Zoe McGrath, Director of Development for the West Suburban Humane Society. “People love the opportunity to shop spring plants while helping animals in need. As a grassroots and volunteer-based organization, community is always at the forefront of what we do at the West Suburban Humane Society.”
Serving the community for more than 50 years, West Suburban Humane Society works to strengthen the connections between animals and people through advocacy, humane education and the promotion of animal welfare initiatives. The organization also offers an education program to promote respect, empathy and compassion for animals while educating people of all ages about animal homelessness, shelters, adoptions and the proper care of domestic dogs and cats.
“As WSHS has continued to grow, Petals for Pets is a great way for our community to bloom in support of our mission,” McGrath said.
The plant sale fundraiser is made possible through generous sponsors including Gerald Subaru of Naperville. Gerald Subaru will be on-site to support this unique fundraising event.
“We are so proud to partner with Gerald Subaru of Naperville,” McGrath said. “As a consistent partner to the West Suburban Humane Society, Gerald Subaru of Naperville makes a direct and positive impact on the animals we serve. As a sponsor, Gerald Subaru of Naperville is instrumental to the success of the event. We are so thankful to Gerald Subaru of Naperville for being a sponsor of Petals for Pets.”
Donna Lawler of The Gerald Auto Group said Gerald is excited to be part of this year’s Petals for Pets plant sale.
“We are delighted to support the West Suburban Humane Society through this year’s Petals for Pets plant sale,” Lawler said. “It’s a meaningful way to contribute — helping animals find loving homes while helping people in the community beautify their yards and gardens.”
