Huntley first responders handle multiple crashes with injuries Wednesday

Multiple injuries were reported in two crashes Wednesday handled by first responders from the Huntley Fire Protection District.

The first crash was reported just before 2:50 p.m. near the intersection of West Algonquin Road and Square Barn Road in Algonquin and involved three vehicles.

One vehicle had overturned and landed upright in a ditch, but two occupants required extrication.

A total of three people were transported to nearby hospitals after the crash, two in serious condition, fire officials said. A fourth person refused transport.

The second crash happened just before 6 p.m. in Huntley on the 14000 block of Helena Road when a woman drove her vehicle into the closed garage of a home and struck an exterior wall, causing significant structural damage, fire officials said.

The woman was transported to Northwest Medicine Huntley Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. It’s unknown if the house was deemed habitable.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
