Lombard hosts photo contest during Lilac festival

The village of Lombard is hosting its annual photo contest during Lilac Time, with this year’s theme: “Through My Lens: Lombard.” The contest, running from May 2-31, is open to Lombard residents and visitors.

All photographers, whether amateur or experienced, are invited to submit their photos capturing candid moments that reflect everyday life and the people who make Lombard special.

From relaxing in local parks to strolling through downtown or attending community events, submissions should highlight the authentic experiences that bring our community to life.

To help keep entries focused on these meaningful moments, participants are encouraged to capture photos that feature people and activity in Lombard’s public spaces. While buildings can certainly be part of the scene, please avoid submitting photos of structures on their own without any community context.

Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. To enter, complete the online submission form, where you will be asked to upload your photo and acknowledge the required release form.

Photographs will be reviewed by the village’s community relations committee. Winners will be contacted via email and announced on the village’s Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) pages on Monday, June 16.

The first-place winner will receive a $100 gift card, the second-place winner will receive a $50 gift card and the third-place winner will receive a $25 gift card.

Winning photographs will also be featured on the village website and social media channels and may be used in future village publications or promotional materials.

Check out the blooms during Lilac Time May 3-18 at Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
