A positive protest

My wife and I, both in our 70s, were moved to attend the Hands Off protest held in our town of Algonquin on April 5. Our concerns were many. The direction in which our president has chosen to take us, we feel, is diametrically opposed to freedom, democracy and the health and happiness of the people. We have grandchildren and are deeply concerned for their future. We went to the event unsure of the reception we would get. However, the experience was overwhelmingly positive. The crowd size was estimated at about 3,000. And the crowd was both respectful and positive. Much support was shown by passing motorists and their honking horns. The feeling of camaraderie and unity was encouraging. We sincerely hope that our efforts to give voice to our feelings will have some effect.
