Hydrant flushing begins this week in Lake Zurich

Lake Zurich’s annual flushing of fire hydrants to remove sediment begins this week and runs through May 2, weather permitting.

Residents are advised to use caution when traveling near flushing crews as water may accumulate in the area.

If you’re using water when the fire hydrant flushing process is happening in your area, sediment from the water system might end up in your home’s plumbing. The water might turn a bit discolored, smell different, or have a slightly different taste, but it’s still safe to use.

A white or light-colored laundry load might be affected. If you see a rust color in white or light-colored laundry, call (847) 438-5141. Village hall can provide rust-removing that should take care of it in most cases.
