Senior Suburban Orchestra to host Family & Friends Concert May 3
The Senior Suburban Orchestra, now in its 25th season, invites the community to a Family and Friends Concert on Saturday, May 3.
During this concert, the orchestra will perform well-known music from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” Suite 1 and “Carmen” Suite 2.
The program also includes music from “Fiddler on the Roof” as well as “Singing Through the War,” a sing-along including a collection of songs made popular during World War II, arranged by orchestra member Ron Baumgardner.
The event will be held at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 5739 Dunham Road in Downers Grove.
During each concert of its 25th season, they have featured a different orchestra member as a soloist with the orchestra. The soloists at this concert will perform “Vivace” from the Two Violin Concerto in D minor, BWV 2043 by Bach.
The orchestra’s conductor, Dan Pasquale D’Andrea, has been with the orchestra since its beginning in 2000, and has helped develop the orchestra into an award-winning 40-plus piece performing organization, which presents up to 15 concerts per year for venues such as retirement homes, schools, and community organizations.
Although there is no charge for the concert, donations are appreciated. A reception with light refreshments will follow the concert.
