We are under threat as a nation divided
“A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.” A. Lincoln
Racial unrest and political polarization have increased dramatically. Our political parties have put party above American citizens and have labeled the other side as enemies.
A recent White House press briefing brought this home very well. The Trump Federal Government found “waste” in paying for DEI training. Immediately, DEI training was also said to be “criminal.” Disagreement about DEI is one thing, but naming it as “criminal” crosses the line into intimidation and lying since DEI was the “law of the land” before the new administration put out its Executive Order against it. DEI had laudable goals, but was not perfect. No across-the-aisle discussions are underway for a replacement.
Intimidation, threats and lying are the norm for our new government. Almost daily the new government is labeling simple disagreements as criminal. They are planning to remove legal protected status from those seeking amnesty just so it can deport them. They have no criminal record. They are not polluting our blood. Think about it. On all issues, just what is going on with the Republican-controlled Congress these days?
The result is that we cannot believe anything our new government calls criminal. We must fact check at reputable sites. Social media is well known to spread lies faster than truth. We must not be cowed by intimidation, but remain calm. If we all remain in our intolerant social media silos, the USA cannot stand. Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.
