Call for artists for St. Charles Arts Council’s second annual Plein Air event
The St. Charles Arts Council is planning to host its second Plein Air Event, the week of Aug. 18-24. This will be a juried event, with the judge selection to be announced later. A total of $5,250 in prizes will be awarded. Artists will be allowed to submit three paintings.
Building on the success of last year’s attendance, the committee has opened up the participant numbers, to include up to 55 artists this year.
Applicants are asked to apply via www.stcharlesartscouncil.org. Registration is open to all artists.
The entry fee is $65, which must be included with registration. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 25. The fee entitles artists to participate in all events listed below. This entry fee is nonrefundable.
Entries will be juried by the St. Charles Arts Council Plein Air Committee, and artists notified of acceptance, by May 9.
Artist events include the “Main Event,” a weeklong Plein Air paint competition; “Quick Paint,” a limited time-frame competition; “Nocturne” competition; Monday night attendance at welcome party; Grand Reveal Party, and public sale of paintings.
Activities will also be held for the public to participate in, throughout the week, including a Plein Air demonstration; a “Quick Paint” competition; “Mindful Creativity” for area children; and a “Writers Event.” Additional information will be available, at a later date.
