Five seats decided on Aurora City Council, including defeat of incumbent Woerman

Five aldermanic seats were up for grabs on the Aurora City Council during Tuesday’s election, with all but one incumbent holding onto their position.

Challenger Keith Larson, a first-time candidate, defeated incumbent Ron Woerman for the alderperson at large seat, winning 9,355 votes to 6,761, according to unofficial totals.

Dan Barreiro

In the First Ward, incumbent Dan Barreiro bested three other candidates while competing for an unexpired 2-year seat. Barreiro had 775 votes, defeating Hugo Saltijeral with 486, Ray Hull with 326 and Jeffrey Donelson with 236 votes.

In Ward 2, incumbent Juany Garza defeated Alfonso Santoyo. Garza had 415 votes, and Santoyo had 291 votes.

In the Fourth Ward, unofficial results show Jonathan Nunez defeating Jeffrey Hansford. Nunez had 956 votes, and Hansford had 616 votes.

In Ward 7, incumbent Brandon Tolliver finished the night on top with 279 votes to 200 for Javier Banuelos.
