Chicago Stars fall to Racing Louisville

Chicago Stars FC lost 1-0 to Racing Louisville on Sunday.

Louisville’s Emma Sears provided the match’s lone goal.

Following a weather delay, Chicago set the tone with early pressure. In the first 10 minutes of the match, Chicago had three attempts at goal, with two on target.

In the 27th minute, Chicago made its only mistake of the half by turning the ball over in its own defensive third, which gave Sears a chance at goal. Sears’ shot, which took an ricochet off a Chicago defender, curled up and over Alyssa Naeher’s outstretched arm in an attempt to make a diving save, and found the back of the net.

Louisville’s victory at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview left Chicago as the only team in the National Women’s Soccer League to tally any points on the league table. The team will take an international break before traveling April 13 to San Jose, Calif. to take on Bay FC.
