Congress should join fight against waste
Congress should be working with the new administration to root out the wasteful and fraudulent spending in the Federal government, not complaining about their efforts. Congress has had a decade or more to clean up this kind of spending. They continue to print and borrow money that we do not have. The national debt is at $36 trillion and represents 100% of our GDP. Do you remember what happened to Greece when they exceeded their GDP? The annual federal budget went from $3.5 trillion to $7.5 trillion in 4 years.
Surely there is a way to reduce the spending to pre-COVID levels. Rescind much of the Inflation Reduction Act which was anything but. Restore the funds to Medicare/Medicaid taken in that act. Why are taxpayers responsible for food, shelter, education and health care to those who come to our country illegally? It used to be and still should be, that immigrants to the United States make their own way without government handouts. How about they stop the fraud in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Maybe we wouldn’t be facing benefit cuts in 10 years.
Legal immigration is good for America. Foreign Aid that actually helps poor countries fight hunger and disease is good also. But let’s stop doing stupid stuff.
I encourage my fellow citizens to contact your congressmen and senators and tell them that if they refuse to help reform our fiscal house then get out of the way. We finally have an administration determined to listen to the American people.
