SamaraCare, Women in Touch bring back breakfast to support women’s mental health

SamaraCare and Women in Touch (WIT) will present “A Breakfast Inspiring Hope” on Friday, May 2, from 7 to 9 a.m. at Elements on Water Street in downtown Naperville to relaunch and rebrand what was formerly known as the “Silent Samaritan” fundraiser.

“This event will continue to benefit under-resourced women and children by providing reduced cost mental health services,” said committee cochair Annette Zulawski. “It’s an opportunity for women to gather together, be inspired and empowered to share hope with women and children in our community who need our support.”

The breakfast will feature a conversation between Mike Bradburn, SamaraCare CEO and president, and Danielle Schaeffer, Disability Ministry Director at Christ Church of Oak Brook, on finding and sharing hope in difficult circumstances.

Schaeffer has quite a story to tell about her family challenges and how she continues to find hope to share with parents of children with disabilities.

“Currently, women and children are experiencing a mental health crisis that’s only accelerated since the pandemic,” said Kelly Ryan, Psy.D., committee cochair. “High inflation, political tensions, longer working hours, limited resources and parenting are among the pressures women face. WIT recognizes the strength, courage and determination of women battling mental health concerns. This event will raise funds to make a difference in women’s lives.”

Women in Touch was founded in partnership with SamaraCare’s vision of Affordable Access to Mental Health Care for All. The group is committed to helping people access the mental health care and support they need to experience a healthier and more rewarding life.

To that end, Women in Touch is driven to minimize the financial barriers to accessing high-quality care to anyone who asks for help.

Elements is located on the second floor of Hotel Indigo with ample parking on site. To purchase tickets, tables or sponsorship for A Breakfast Inspiring Hope, visit samaracarecounseling.org/event/women-in-touch.

Founded in 1971, SamaraCare is a nonprofit mental health provider. It wants everyone to have affordable access to high-quality counseling, psychiatric, and Autism services regardless of their insurance status or financial circumstances. That’s why the Mental Health Access Program was created and provides reduced cost care to the uninsured, underinsured and those facing financial hardship. The goal is to provide care to everyone who asks for help.
