Sean McQuade: 2025 candidate for Inverness village board

Bio

Office sought: Inverness village board (Vote for 3)

City: Inverness

Age: 59

Occupation: Production manager/student supervisor

Previous offices held: Vice president, Carol Stream Elementary District 93 school board

What is the most serious issue your community will face in the coming years and how should the village board respond to it?

I believe it is crime. We have recently installed many license plate readers in the community. Further cooperation with the police department and encouragements to the community to practice crime prevention measures.

How would you describe the state of your community's finances? What should be the top priorities for spending during the next few years? Are there areas of spending that need to be curtailed?

I believe the community is in excellent condition financially. Once elected I will have a better understanding of the village’s needs and priorities. I do not have an agenda.

What do you see as the most important infrastructure project the community must address? Why and how should it be paid for? Conversely, during these uncertain economic times, what project(s) can be put on the back burner?

I believe the aging of our residential septic systems along with the water runoff management from storms is very important. We need to discuss with the village and community jointly how we can work together to assess this need.

Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage local government? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board.

I am a twice-elected school board member and school board vice president. I was on multiple committees during this time frame including finance, political and bargaining committees. As a board member, you listen and learn to presentations and discussions with an open mind. You state your believes and reasonings. You support the board decisions regardless of how you voted.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I am the best candidate based on my previous experience being a twice-elected school board member with 8 years experience and the last 4 years being the vice president. I was on our bargaining committee during two teacher negotiations. I was on the finance committee. I was the representative of our political committee.

I was and always will be a conscientious steward of the communities resources and will always be an excellent decision maker.

What’s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

More community outreach to bring everyone in the community together to discuss decisions that have been made, decisions that need to be made, and the results and consequences of those decisions.
