Endorsement: Davies for Grayslake village president
Veteran village Trustee Elizabeth Davies’ experience sets her apart from challenger Jeff Loffredo in the race for Grayslake village president.
The duo is vying to succeed Village President Rhett Taylor, who’s retiring from local government and isn’t seeking a fifth term. Taylor served six years on the village board before being elected mayor in 2009.
Davies, a high school mathematics teacher and Grayslake trustee since 2014, is an active community volunteer who says her leadership style is characterized by research, collaboration and growth. She believes progress comes from listening, engaging, and working together. Davies seeks to focus on keeping the town debt-free, community oriented, and enhance natural spaces to encourage community interaction and improve overall property values.
Loffredo, a pipe fitter and current Avon Township trustee has worked in construction for more than 15 years. He says he is running to improve the town’s infrastructure and drainage.
Both agree that to be successful leaders, they must listen to others and find ways to collaborate despite differences of opinion.
We urge Loffredo to stay involved in village issues, but Davies’ village government experience speaks for itself. Her passion is evident from her thoughtful responses and ideas for improving the community. She is endorsed.
