Be ready for Medicare with Bacoa’s ‘When I’m 64’
Turning 65 is a milestone for older adults, and with it may come important changes to health insurance coverage. Bacoa’s upcoming three-part educational workshop, “When I’m 64,” addresses many of these Medicare and retirement topics.
Led by Bacoa’s Sue McNamara and Laura Kulawik, the workshop will educate the community on Medicare basics, supplements and advantage plans, and Medicare prescription drug plans. In partnership with the Barrington Area Library, Bacoa’s three-part series will provide attendees with the tools needed to navigate one’s Medicare plan.
“When I’m 64” is spread out over 3 consecutive Thursdays in March, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Barrington Area Library. The first part of the series will be on Thursday, March 13. The topic will be Medicare Basics. It will be an overview of Medicare eligibility, enrollment, and the different parts of Medicare.
The second part of the series, on Thursday, March 20, will cover Medicare Advantage Plans, and the differences between original Medicare and Advantage plans.
The third installment on Thursday, March 27, will cover “Medicare Supplements and Drug Plans.” Attendees will learn the benefits of including a supplemental prescription drug plan, as well as the ins and outs of choosing the best plan.
Bacoa has been running the “When I’m 64” program since 2010. Due to its popularity, the program will run in March, May, July, and September. Registration is available at www.balibrary.org.
