What is the most serious issue your community will face in the coming years and how should the city council respond to it?
There are several key infrastructure projects but none more important that the replacement of the sanitary sewer line across the Fox River. In addition and in more general sense, the buildings that serve Geneva need to be brought up to date including a full replacement of the police station.
How would you describe the state of your community's finances? What should be the top priorities for spending during the next few years? Are there areas of spending that need to be curtailed?
The city is in a very good financial position and has improved its rating in my 4 years on council.
What do you see as the most important infrastructure project the community must address? Why and how should it be paid for? Conversely, during these uncertain economic times, what project(s) can be put on the back burner?
Fox River Sanitary Cross and the East State Street Roadway reconstruction project. We should also improve all of our facilities and continue to plan to replace aging infrastructure elements.
Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage local government? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your city council.
In my time on council, I have prepared for each meeting and come to the meeting prepared to discuss any contentious issues and provide my input.
What makes you the best candidate for the job?
My background as an architect, construction manager and as a long-term actively engaged resident in Geneva makes me an excellent candidate for the city council. I am always willing to help residents and strive to always make decisions for the long-term benefit of our city.
What’s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?
I share all my ideas very openly so there aren’t any good ideas that nobody is talking about but, to me, public restrooms in our downtown are needed and should be part of our planning.
