Zion Lutheran next stop on the Great Elgin Pipe Organ March 16
The next stop on the Great Elgin Pipe Organ Tour will be at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 16. It will be at a later start time, at 4:30 p.m. at the church, 330 Griswold St.
The instrument featured was built in 1979 by the Wicks Organ Co. of Highland, Illinois. The program will include performances by Zion Lutheran’s own organist, Gary Hilquist, and by Jeff Neufeld, music director and organist of First Congregational and the tour organizer.
It will feature collaborative works with Zion Lutheran’s choir, violinist Peggy Schneider, cellist Mark Kutz, and the St. Charles North High School Brass Quartet with Ian Levin, Ryan Katz, Danny Maxwell, and Joseph Schaefer.
Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be taken to support the music ministries of Zion Lutheran Church.
The upcoming concerts will feature the pipe organs at First Presbyterian on March 30 and Holy Trinity Lutheran on April 27 before culminating with an organ and orchestra concert at First Congregational on Friday, June 6. Visit fcc-elgin.org/organ-tour/ to learn more.
