Incumbents support mental health services

This is the first time that I have ever written a letter to the editor, but my recent experience has impacted my life and outlook to where I would like to share it with the community.

I have been honored and fortunate to serve on the Elk Grove Township Mental Health and Wellness Committee for the past two years. The purpose of this committee is to meet with representatives from local social services agencies and review their grant applications. These agencies provide our township residents with services in areas such as homelessness, domestic violence, suicide prevention, mental health issues and many others.

It has been heart-wrenching to hear the stories of the needs and challenges of my neighbors, but equally inspiring to see the agencies that partner with the Social Services Department of our township to help these residents in crisis. I have been amazed by the commitment, dedication and passion of the township elected officials and employees on the committee who do whatever they can to help our township residents.

I encourage you to support the currently elected Elk Grove Township leaders so that these vital services to our residents can continue. Please support Dale Niewiardowski, Dave Perns, Brian Maye and Richard Keenley for Elk Grove Township Trustees on April 1. They have earned our continued support and our vote.
