A proven leader for library
Carrie Carr, a dedicated champion for the Barrington Area Library, has been instrumental in transforming our library into a dynamic, award-winning community hub. As a longtime Library Trustee since 2013 and the current board president, Carrie’s leadership has been pivotal in expanding services, modernizing policies and strengthening financial oversight.
Under Carrie’s guidance, the library has undergone significant renovations, streamlined financial reporting and implemented an investment portfolio to ensure long-term financial stability. She has also played a key role in hiring and mentoring executive leadership, ensuring the library’s continued success.
Carrie’s re-election campaign focuses on several key priorities:
- Expanding learning opportunities beyond traditional services, including the creation of outdoor spaces.
- Attracting and retaining top library staff while ensuring responsible funding.
- Prioritizing fiscal responsibility while safeguarding the library’s future.
- Supporting diverse collections and programming for all ages.
- Updating policies to reflect contemporary trends, such as social media usage.
A Barrington resident since 1997, Carrie has a rich history of community service, having led the Barrington Junior Women’s Club and chaired various community events, including Barrington Giving Day, PTO committees and Girl Scouts. Her deep commitment to making our library a place for lifelong learning, innovation and community engagement is evident in her dedication to Carrie Carr’s re-election.
