Man gets probation for child grooming

A man accused of sexually exploiting two youths over several years has pleaded guilty to grooming.

Christopher Narup, 28, of the 1700 block of Carr Court, Batavia, entered his plea on Wednesday.

He was sentenced to 30 months of specialized sex offender probation. Judge Bianca Camargo also ordered that he have no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18 and complete sex offender treatment, according to Kane County court records.

Narup faced charges relating to two victims. In the first case, the victim’s parents told police they found sexually provocative messages on the victim’s cellphone.

Police said the victim and Narup would meet in Batavia parks. They communicated by text messages and Snapchat messages. Narup dared the victim to send him pictures of a sexual nature, and offered to pay for them.

Police discovered the second victim, a 17-year-old youth, while investigating the first case.

Charges of sexual exploitation of a child under the age of 13 and child luring were dropped in exchange for the plea.

The charges were filed in 2022.
