Respect those who served
I am emailing you about removing Henry Hyde’s name from the Judicial Building for DuPage County. Henry Hyde was a very patriotic man who served his country with integrity his whole life.
Henry Hyde served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war. he was in the Navy Reserve as an officer in charge of the U.S. Naval Intelligence Reserve Unit in Chicago from 1946 to 1968. Then in 1967, Mr. Hyde was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives serving until 1974. In 1974 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and served for 32 years in that role. He went on to do many good things for DuPage County and the country.
Miss Conroy, the DuPage County Board Chairwoman, doesn’t agree with his political views, so she has proposed to have his name removed from the courthouse. I would like to see the cancel culture in our country come to an end. I think we should show respect to the ones that have devoted their whole lives to serve their county.
