St. Charles students can apply for scholarship through IMUA

The city of St. Charles, in partnership with the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association, is offering four scholarships to eligible high school students.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the IMUA Scholarship Program and in recognition of this, the scholarship amounts increased this year to $2,500. In previous years, $1,000 scholarships were awarded.

To qualify, applicants must be high school seniors whose parents or legal guardians are residential customers of City of St. Charles utilities.

Eligible students must submit an application and an essay of 500 words or less addressing one of four utility-related questions. Applications and essays are due Friday, March 14, 2025. The top four finalists will receive a scholarship award.

The scholarship program seeks to promote and recognize scholastic achievement, as well as create greater awareness among young adults of the many issues facing consumers and public power municipalities. Since its inception in 2000, the program has awarded $68,000 to 108 students from IMUA member communities statewide.
