College of DuPage invites professionals and students from area colleges and universities to its College Poll Worker Recruitment Summit from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Attendance is free, but registration is required by Friday, March 28. Register today.

The summit will feature a variety of panel and roundtable discussions that cover trends in poll worker recruitment, best practices for building partnerships with local election officials, and strategies for overcoming barriers to college student engagement in democracy.

“We are excited to bring together students, educators and election officials to discuss how we can engage the next generation in the democratic process,” said COD Student Life Coordinator Stephanie Quirk. “This summit offers a platform for college students to learn more about the important role they can play as poll workers and how they can make an impact in their communities.”

The keynote speaker will be Keara Mendez, director of advocacy at the Center for Tech and Civic Life on “The Role of College Students in Democracy.”

In the afternoon, the featured speaker will be Ben Hovland of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission on “Best Practices for Building Partnerships with Local Election Officials.”
